Web Conferencing Training
Web conferencing training sessions are specifically for instructors that will be teaching via the Contact North | Contact Nord web conferencing platform, Saba Meeting (known as e-CLASSES), and who have an assigned course.
Sessions may be taken on separate days, and are presented in English (French sessions are available). Enrolment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration must be submitted two business days prior to the requested training date. You can also register for e-CLASSES Refresher Training. Agenda Builder Orientation
e-CLASSES Overview, Content Uploading, Content Guidelines
- Level 1 Part A and Level 1 Part B are mandatory prior to leading/teaching sessions on the e-CLASSES platform
- Level 2 training is not mandatory but will provide you with the skills necessary to utilize the Agenda Builder Tool
- There is a limit of one (1) instructor per e-learning workstation in order to provide an optimum training opportunity, and a maximum of 8 instructors per session.
Instructor training prerequisites:
- All sessions are to be taken sequentially (e.g. Complete Level 1 Part A before Level 1 Part B, and completion of Level 1 prior to registering for Level 2).
- Knowledge of and understanding of the Internet and Windows operating environment.
- Distance education classroom experience an asset.
Contact North | Contact Nord's Instructor Training Programs are available for all instructors using the audioconference platform. This session (presented via audioconference) is intended to provide novice distance education instructors with an opportunity to experience distance education from a student's point of view. Instructors will have the opportunity to practice the appropriate protocols for effective audioconferencing, including those necessary to share with students, as well as those that should be incorporated in their teaching routine. This session will also demonstrate the equipment used for audioconferencing.
Contact North | Contact Nord's Instructor Training Programs are available for all instructors using the videoconference platform. This session (presented via videoconference) is intended to provide novice distance education instructors with an opportunity to experience distance education from a student's point of view. Instructors will have the opportunity to discuss the particular adaptations required to convert a face-to-face class to an effective videoconference; how to encourage interaction between students and teachers; developing sound presentation strategies; and, accommodating the limitations of the equipment. Instructors will also be given the chance to participate in a realistic videoconference class; practice various communication protocols appropriate to the medium; and, become familiar with the basic operation and functions of videoconference equipment components.
