Blended learning (also known as “hybrid” in some circles) is the fastest-growing form of teaching across North America, outpacing face-to-face instruction at colleges, universities and other post-secondary institutes. This book, which builds on earlier works including Blended Learning in Higher Education (2008) and Teaching in Blended Learning Environments (2013), brings us up to date on how to do this form of teaching exceptionally well. Focusing on the effective use of the Community of Inquiry framework for instructional design and learning, the book is full of practical, concrete examples of what this work looks like in practice. The chapter on assessment and the need to shift thinking to reflect engagement, equity and inclusion is strong and concise. To anyone new to this form of work, this is a must-read book.
