Book Review

Social Learning Analytic Methods (SLAM) represents a significant advancement in the study of online learning by enabling researchers and practitioners to systematically analyze the social processes that underpin collaborative knowledge construction. By integrating sentiment analysis, social network analysis, NLP and machine learning, SLAM provides a robust, holistic and scalable approach to understanding and improving the online learning environment. This comprehensive book uses SLAM to reconceptualize online learning as a creative co-construction with learners of their experience of learning and knowledge. It explores the interactive spaces, from formal computer-supported collaborative learning settings to informal social media-integrative environments, that comprise asynchronous online learning to offer a rich source of data for analyzing teaching and learning. This is a dense read, but worth it.
