The original edition of this book (2013) was a helpful touch-point for connecting the work that faculty do every day to what we knew then about best practice for student success. This new edition, to be published in May, addresses new research on how people learn, active learning, and student engagement, includes illustrative examples from online teaching, and reports on the effectiveness of Fink's model. The author also explores recent changes in higher education nationally (Fink is based in the US but works around the world) and internationally and offers more proven strategies for dealing with student resistance to innovative teaching - a very real problem as all of us who teach know only too well.
