Many of us have experienced challenges, changes and uncertainty as the pandemic impacts every aspect of society, including the economy.

Whether in our personal lives, our work lives or in our role as leaders, faculty members, instructors and teachers, we are challenged to show adaptability, courage and resilience. For those of us who are fortunate to still have jobs, we had to change how we work, where we work and what we work on. It is a different time, requiring totally different behaviours.

Hosted by Dr. Stephen Murgatroyd, this webinar targets those who struggle to stay positive and focused during the pandemic, whether we are students, faculty or administrators in college and universities around the world.

In this interactive webinar, we learn:

  • What is personal resilience?
  • How do we personally build resilience?
  • What do we need to do to develop resilience in our colleagues and to help make our organization agile and nimble?
  • What do adaptive and resilient organizations look like and how can we assess where we are as an organization on this critical journey?
  • What challenges are we facing in the post-pandemic period that require resilience and agile leadership?

Our host: Dr. Stephen Murgatroyd, FBPsS FRSA, Chief Innovation Officer, Contact North | Contact Nord

Must-Read Books on Online Learning

Must-Read Books on Online Learning features books and articles of interest to those involved in the expansion and improvement of online learning.

Fisher, D., Frey, N., Bustamante, V. and Hattie, J. (2020). The Assessment Playbook for Distance and Blended Learning: Measuring Student Learning in Any Setting. Thousand Oaks, CA: Corwin.

One challenge the pandemic gave rise to was the need to rethink assessment for and of learning. This is as true for higher education as it has been for K-12, which is the focus for this book. Despite its overly cute format – the book has three sections titled cookies, playlist and upgrades – the book is very practical, insightful and helpful. The ideas apply just as much to graduate work as they do to high school or any educational setting. As you explore what else you can do to help students learn through evaluation and assessment, this will prove to be an invaluable resource.
