This session (presented via videoconference) is intended to provide novice distance education instructors with an opportunity to experience distance education from a student's point of view. Instructors will have the opportunity to discuss the particular adaptations required to convert a face-to-face class to an effective videoconference; how to encourage interaction between students and teachers; developing sound presentation strategies; and, accommodating the limitations of the equipment. Instructors will also be given the chance to participate in a realistic videoconference class; practice various communication protocols appropriate to the medium; and, become familiar with the basic operation and functions of videoconference equipment components.
