Book Review

Many years ago, the Minister of Education for Singapore spoke eloquently of “teach less learn more” as a core strategy for education in Singapore. This book is based on this principle. Rather than overwhelm students with content (much of which is redundant), the author uses design principles which de-clutter courses by focusing on intentional design, shared and clear purpose and meaningful moments for feedback. Rather than use a textbook, the author encourages us to focus on assessable outcomes and capabilities and then identify what resources, processes and activities are needed for the student to demonstrate capability. Focus is the message.
