The Augmented Knowledge Worker in Higher Education

Wednesday, May 20, 2026
11:00 am – 12:00 pm (Eastern Time)

This webinar explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping academic work, not by replacing educators but by augmenting their judgment, creativity and impact.

Rather than focusing on specific AI tools, this webinar reframes AI as a work redesign challenge. Drawing on real-world examples from leading universities, including the University of Toronto, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, ASU, Jisc and La Trobe University, the session introduces a practical framework for understanding how AI is already transforming teaching, research and academic administration.

Participants will be introduced to six dimensions of academic augmentation, including:

  • Codifying and preserving institutional knowledge
  • Using AI as a thinking partner for research and curriculum design
  • Orchestrating multi-agent AI workflows
  • Supporting rapid, in-the-flow professional learning
  • Enabling personalized, opt-in coaching for educators
  • Designing effective human–AI teamwork at scale

The webinar also examines what this shift means for professors, academic leaders and institutions, highlighting the leadership, governance and cultural choices required to adopt AI responsibly and equitably.

This session is designed for faculty members, deans, chairs, academic leaders and professional staff who want to move beyond experimentation and understand how AI can be embedded thoughtfully into the core work of higher education.
