The Need to Redesign Institutional Business Models and Online Learning Policy

The integration of online learning in a college or university implies much more than offering courses online. It involves a rethinking of roles, services, infrastructure, funding, faculty development and recognition, student access and success, and includes administration, staff, faculty and students. Successful integration also involves rethinking government policy on online learning.

Read three resources on integrating online, open and distance education in college and university planning and government policy development:

  • Institutional Strategies to Enhance Online Learning
  • Assessing Online Learning Costs and Savings
  • Global Thinking on Online Learning Policy

A Web-Based Expert System for Designing Instructional Scenarios from Université de Montréal, Québec

Read how the Faculty of Education at the Université de Montréal developed an open source, web-based tool OAS (Outil d’Aide à la Scénarisation) to help construct teaching scenarios. The OAS tool guides users in the design and preparation of teaching-learning contexts or scenarios, focusing on active pedagogical approaches and the selective use of information and communications technologies. The tool can be used for the design of a short teaching module, a workshop, a course or any other learning context.
