Using OER to Construct a Course at Durham College, Ontario

Track how Professor Carson at Durham College in Ontario found assessed and structured open educational resources (OER) into an online course on HTML, the language used to represent webpages. The experience underlines the importance of providing clear and detailed information for students and all those involved in the development process on the purpose and benefits of OER.

Double-Digit Growth in Online Learning in Canadian Colleges and Universities

Preliminary results from the 2019 National Survey of Online and Digital Learning, conducted by the Canadian Digital Learning Research Association, reveal a 10% growth in online learning in Canadian colleges and universities from 2018 to 2019.

The preliminary report can be downloaded from https://onlinelearningsurveycanada.ca or in French from http://formationenlignecanada.ca.

The Canadian Digital Learning Research Team, Dr. Tricia Donovan, Executive Director, Nicole Johnson, Research Director, Dr. Tony Bates, Advisor, Dr. Brian Desbiens, member of research team, Eric Martel, member of research team, and Dr. Jeff Seaman, Babson Survey Research Group, released the key findings of the report at ONLINE LEARNING 2019, hosted by Contact North | Contact Nord, during a special briefing on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

Level Up Online Learning for Ontario: Experimentation and Impact

eCampusOntario's Technology + Education Seminar + Showcase (TESS) is an annual event that provides Ontario colleges and universities with an opportunity to explore the intersection of technology and education. This year, over 200 attendees from across the province will come together to explore topics and technologies that are advancing online education.

Day 1 offers presentations showcasing excellence in online learning from across Ontario. Day 2 provides a facilitated learning experience on H5P, a free and open-source content collaboration technology tool.

Highlights include plenaries by Donna Lanclos and Tricia Donovan from the Canadian Digital Learning Research Association (CDLRA), who will announce the release of the sub-report of the 2019 National Survey.
